A fantastic evening at the WABA Africa Business Reception in Parliament last night, with a full turnout and an exceptional gathering of diplomats, Parliamentarians and business leaders.
We were delighted to welcome FCDO Minister of State Kirsty McNeill MP McNeill MP as our keynote speaker.
The Minister paid tribute to WABA and highlighted the enormous amount of experience and expertise in the room among our members. She spoke passionately about the vital role of business in creating jobs, driving prosperity and strengthening economic relationships, as well as the massive opportunities that exist across Africa.
We were also honoured to hear from H.E. Mr Mosuoe Letuma, High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Lesotho, who spoke about the forthcoming Lesotho Trade & Investment Forum taking place on 22 October at the Institute of Directors in London.
Our leading WABA member and sponsor, Tim Johnsen of Eagle Scientific Limited, shared the company’s experience of more than 45 years working across Africa and the contribution it can make across areas including education, training, health and other key sectors.
The reception brought together Ambassadors and High Commissioners from across Africa, Asia and the Caribbean, Parliamentarians, WABA members and senior business leaders.
It was a fantastic evening of networking, making introductions, building relationships and, most importantly, creating connections that can lead to real business and investment opportunities between the UK and Africa.
A huge thank you to our speakers, members, guests and everyone who helped make the evening such a success.
WABA – connecting business, government and diplomacy to strengthen UK–Africa trade and investment.
